INTERNATIONAL ART IN POMMERNHUS
Artists from twelve different countries exhibit their works until mid-September in an anniversary exhibition.

BY CORNELIA MEERKATZ
Greifswald.
Ten years of InterArt: Unique works of art are exhibited until mid-September in Pommernhus. Seventeen artists, fifteen of which are women, from twelve different countries display all their skills. The artists come from Germany, Russia, Poland, Spain, Singapore, South Korea, Ukraine, Switzerland, Norway, United States, Argentina and Slovenia. The 77 works of art are as diverse as only art can be: from abstract style to expressionism, collage, prints and textile design. “I believe that with this artistic range we are reaching a very heterogeneous public” stated Nadja Klüter, one of the organizers of InterArt in Greifswald. The artist Nadja Klüter is happy that ten years ago there were so many artists committed to the idea of an international exhibition in Greifswald, amongst them, Helmut Maletzke. Klüter herself had grasped the idea long time before, as in 1997 the artist Monticello Miller had founded an international association of artists in Los Angeles. In 2008, Greifswald native Klüter had met Miller during the exhibition “Art Ladies”. Throughout their conversation she could better understand why the artist had fought so much for this association. “With it, we have the possibility to know art from other continents. This widens the spectrum for others´ creations.” added Klüter. Apart from everything concerning the exhibition, artists can share their technical knowledge.
The exhibition InterArt 2016 offers the people from Greifswald and its visitors unique works of art: Bernadeta Wdzieczna from Poland paints portraits using oil and pastel. For this, she uses pigments she has developed, from which she creates reliefs or collages which achieve a very special effect on the spectator. “She has something of 3D in her format”, comments Nadja Klüter. Bernadeta´s works can in the meantime be found in galleries and private collections in Germany, Poland, Japan, United Stated and the Netherlands.
Reaching practically photographic perfection are the works by Claudia Toubes, from Buenos Aires, who enjoys painting in her canvasses people in neo realistic style. The Argentinian artist pours her feelings into the oil painting and, as she explains, “then, magic happens…”
The organizer of InterArt, Nadja Klüter enjoys painting on silk, mainly for reasons inspired in nature. She can master acrylic, oil and watercolours as well. “I hope there is something for every taste in our anniversary exhibition” she states.
There were 41 countries represented in InterArt exhibitions in the past ten years. “We wish to continue growing in the future and inviting countries which have not yet been represented to exhibit next to the River Ryck. In that aspect, we hope to receive state help” says Nadja Klüter.

Exhibition until September 18th

77 works of art from 17 different artists can be appreciated in the 10th edition of InterArt. The exhibition will be displayed until September 18th in Pommernhus.
41 countries were already present in the InterArt exhibition in Griefswald. Every year, more countries join in.
